Community Liaison Officer

Post: Community Liaison Officer
Hours: Part-time 16.00 hrs per week, core working hours 9-5pm
Salary: £10.55 per hour
Report to: CEO
Holiday: 22 days per annum pro rata, + bank holiday’s + Board Discretionary holiday over Christmas & New Year
Community Café: On-site cafe with 10% staff discount
On-site Ofsted regulated nursery 0-5 yrs., Discount rates available for Forum Staff
Pension: Company Pension Scheme
Sick Pay: Company sick pay scheme (after qualifying period)

The Forum at Greenwich is fully inclusive and accessible Community Centre which has been based at the very heart of the Greenwich Community for over 35 years. We are a registered Charity and company limited by guarantee.
The Charity has been successful in securing funding from the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The funding will support the Forum to improve community relations, empower local residents and actively encourage them to contribute in creating a strong sense of local community identity.
The Greenwich area has a diverse mix of residents and over the past 4 years has seen a vast amount of growth, with over 15,000 new homes built and over 30,000 new families and individuals moving into the area.

The Role:
This is a new role and the successful post holder will work with the CEO to reduce Social Isolation in the area, whilst promoting independence and Community Resilience. Encourage residents to volunteer and take the lead on community activities and events.

The post holder:
You will be expected to demonstrate good organisational ability and a sound understanding of community relations. You must have a good understanding of local needs and ability to develop productive working relationships with the community.
You must have a proven track record of building productive relationships with community organisations/groups and individuals. You will be proactive and able to use your influencing skills to help build up relationships with the local community, particularly those that are vulnerable and hard to reach.
You will be key to identifying community needs whilst working with other local and national Charities/organisations to develop a programme of user led events and activities.

Essential Criteria:
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to work unsupervised.

• Strong developments and relationship building skills

• An excellent understanding of Equality legislation

• Excellent presentation and reporting skills

Desirable Skills
• Project management experience is desirable.

• A strong desire to shape the future of the local community

• Evidence of working within Community led projects
